Defined by the idea of movement, Migration is dedicated to going beyond our Anderson Valley origins and exploring Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions. This exploration has taken us to the storied vineyards of California’s Russian River Valley, where clockwork fog and Goldridge sandy loam soils have contributed to a Pinot Noir with beautiful, high-tone red fruit flavors of strawberry, cherry and cranberry, and enticing hints of orange-cinnamon spice.

Winemaker Notes
The debut release of our Migration Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is exotic, ample and complex, with lush fruit and a round, chewy mid-palate. The nose reveals aromas of ripe red cherry and dark berries underscored by more sophisticated layers of antique wood and Asian spices. On the palate, the cool-climate origins of this wine are supported by well-integrated acidity that adds a refreshing structural counterpoint to the fruit, and ageability to the wine.
Production
The Russian River Valley experienced a dry winter and spring to start the 2008 growing season. After a heat spell in May, weather returned to the normal cycle of cool nights and warm days moderated by daily maritime fog. We worked with a variety of renowned vineyards to create the 2008 blend, with an emphasis on fruit from cooler regions of the Russian River Valley. The long, mild growing season allowed the fruit to ripen slowly, producing classic Russian River Valley fruit aromatics, with excellent structure and good acidity.
